About Us

Touch of Magic Boston Terriers began some 15 years ago. I met my friend Merrilee and her husband Dwayne.  They owned a beautiful little girl named Penny.  She could chase tennis balls for ever, lick the make-up off your face and could keep the neighborhood awake with her snoring.  She was a great friend and companion for Dwayne and Merrilee.  She went on the road with Dwayne, kept Merrilee and the kids company too.  She endured cats and assorted rescue animals that went in and out of their lives.  She did all the cute things that Bostons are supposed to do; cocking her head as though listening, talking to you in her own language, and being a “companion”  She was taken too soon by a speeding teenager at 1 am in the morning.  Her only “Bad” habit was killing basketballs.

It took 3 years and lots of tears to recover.  I started sharing a house with my friends and bought Dwayne a new Boston named “Merlin” (Shadows Bitts of Magic)  That started the whole thing…

We believe Bostons should be:

  • Very friendly, outgoing and happy. A Boston should never meet a stranger, but greet each person with enthusiasm and kiss if allowed.

  • They should possess a square head, dark brown eyes that can talk you out of your dinner, erect ears set correctly on the head, and an expression of kind intelligence.

  • Their body should be cobby (short- back well-ribbed up, good strong limbs with good bone) and square when viewed from the side, with a straight level back.  The tail should be short and can be screw or straight.

  • They should be free from genetic defects such as, deafness, juvenile cataracts, luxating patellas, and hip dysplasia.

  • Colors acceptable are black and white, black with brindle and white and seal and white, other colors exist but are not recognized by AKC or perpetuated by responsible breeders.
